Ringmaster

The Ringmaster Community Message Broadcasting Service is now fully operational. Messages regarding current events of criminal activity can be sent to members of
various watch schemes or members of the public. The messages can be sent out to all registered persons by e mail, voice mail, fax and text message. Members who choose to use the voice mail service, can have information provided at specific times or left on an answering machine. Information can be specifically targeted at individual watch schemes or selected areas by using a mapping process which relies on post codes. All individuals who register for the scheme are asked to provide an emergency contact number as well as any number they use on a routine basis. This is to enable the Police to communicate in the event of an emergency. For example – floods etc.

Their aim is to send our crime alert messages in a timely manner which provides actionable intelligence for the community. There are almost 10,000 members of the public and other partner agencies registered on the system. We hope to increase this number in conjunction with the launch of safer neighbourhoods. A dedicated telephone number 0845 163 1644 has been provided to enable the public to provide information and also allow the Police to measure the amount of information provided as a result of the Ringmaster system
